Starting out in Secondary School can be a daunting experience but not at accadis ISB. Students meet high academic demands whilst feeling safe in our system where we know each individual.

Students are, of course, instructed in both German and English and any student new to Secondary School is placed in a language class tailored to his or her individual level. Students in Secondary School enjoy our broad international curriculum which is compatible with the requirements of the State of Hesse. Our students experience the best of both worlds when working towards the ‘Mittlerer Schulabschluss’ at the end of Grade 10: they will achieve the internationally recognized IGCSE qualifications by Cambridge International Education and attain the standard expected at a German Gymnasium at the same time. 

An enriched curriculum in the bilingual Secondary School

Students begin to study Spanish formally as a third language from Grade 5 which is much sooner than is commonly the case in Germany.

Using technology comes second nature to our students. We provide safe access to the world of online learning through the G Suite for Education platform. Students establish their competencies as technology users and creators during their weekly IT lessons in Grades 5 to 8; 3D printing and coding are some of the highlights.  

Our students look forward to their annual residential class trip. Whether it is an outdoor experience or a city visit, all trips complement the curriculum and strengthen the bond between new and existing students.

We are proud of our responsible, welcoming and open-minded students. They are encouraged to mentor younger students, volunteer and to experience the world of work, especially during the two-week internship in Grade 9 and via participation in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award programme. 

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

You want your child to achieve a secondary school qualification that is nationally and internationally recognised and provides an excellent grounding for higher education worldwide.

In Grades 11 and 12 our students are working towards the International Baccalaureate Diploma. They choose subjects from up to six areas of study at higher and standard level. The IB Diploma is recognised as equivalent to the German Abitur, yet the IB offers so much more. It is designed to develop well-rounded, internationally-minded young learners who are well prepared for the challenges of university and life beyond on a both professional and personal level.

The IB-Diploma Programme

• qualifies students for university study in Germany and worldwide 
• develops critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to reflect on progress 
• equips the students with the study skills required at university, for example essay writing skills 
• promotes personal engagement beyond the classroom 
• develops a global mindset, tolerance and openness
